The Oregon State Defense Force Pipeband, comprised of members who
live within two hours of Salem, has played at highland games
throughout North America, competed at the World Pipeband
Championships in Scotland, and had the honor of representing the
State of Oregon in a presidential inauguration.
The Oregon State Defense Force, previously called Oregon National
Guard Reserve, was formed at the onset of World War I. In 1971 a few
members of the OSDF formed a pipeband which has since then flourished
and grown.

The pipers and drummers of today’s OSDF band honor our men and women
of the armed forces by playing for veterans’ groups and at
ceremonies. Our youth program nurtures champion pipers and drummers
who have competed and won honors throughout the Pacific Northwest.
